Nag – Human Coward Coyote (Convulse Records)
Atlanta bands love to shuffle and reassemble, and one of the latest to crawl out of the incestuous ooze is Nag (pronounced NOG). The calamitous punk three-piece consists of equal parts Brannon Greene (Predator, GHB) on guitar and vocals, Tony Kozera (Maudlin) on bass, and either Ryan Fetter (Maudlin, every other band in town) on drums, or one of his several clones genetically engineered to tour, form more bands, and sport questionable haircuts. If you’re looking for straightforward hardcore or punk, maybe look elsewhere, but if you’re in the mood for that creepy, kind of surreal, Outer Limits-inspired punk, then stick around.
NAG from Atlanta, Georgia released Human Coward Coyote in 2023 as a fresh addition to their growing catalog. This new album pushes the punk element deeper with a bit more raw production and in-your-face drums. There’s even elements that are reminiscent of The Adolescents and a bit of Agent Orang. Overall, it’s a fast, fun blend of darker punk interspersed with some intergalactic noise.
